The Magnificent Wine Company House Wine

The Magnificent Wine Company House Wine

The Magnificent Wine Company House Wine, 2005, Washington
Sometimes a wine just doesn’t work for you, and this was one of those times. The humbly named Magnificent Wine Company touts their imaginatively named House Wine as a “wine for the people,” and the black and white clad bottle has been well received by nearly everyone but me. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon - 54%, Merlot - 30%, Syrah - 11%, Malbec - 3% and Cabernet Franc - 2% just fell flat for me. I found it to be harsh on the nose and very drinkable but indescript. I like the unpretentious back-to-basics style of this winemaker and will probably try next years offering just because I want to support this small regional brand, but so far this magnificent wine gets a big “EH” from me.
